The Prime Minister has announced the Council on Homelessness which will assist in implementing the outcomes of the Homelessness white paper.  Ian Carter, a member of the Foyer Foundation Board and CEO of Anglicare WA has been appointed to the Council.

Foyer news 04.08.09

New work through the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness flags further foyer developments. In the Australian Capital Territory a Youth Foyer will provide 20 places, with accommodation and support for young people aged 16–25 years old to maintain stable housing and engage with education and employment services, while in regional Victoria a Foyer youth facility to accommodate and support up to 45 young people has also been announced.

Western Australia announces first Foyer development in Perth to provide secure housing and on-site support services for around 100 young people, including 35 young people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

FOYER NEWS 15.12.08

The Foyer Foundation's is proud to announce the start of a National tour in support of the devlopment of foyers across Australia. The tour will encompass four States and a meeting with the Federal Minister for Housing Tanya Plibersek. Spokesperson for the Foyer Foundation will be David Chesterton, Director of the Foyer Foundation in Australia, and the Deputy Chair of theFoyer Federation in the UK. David is also the Manager of the largest operator of foyers in the UK.

FOYER NEWS 28.11.08

The Foyer Foundation's direct link with the Foyer Federation in the UK will be further strengthened through the arrival of David Chesterton in December. David is a Director of the Foyer Foundation in Australia, and the Deputy Chair of the UK Foyer Federation. David is also the Manager of East Potential - the largest operator of foyers in the UK. David will be in Australia in December, and will be visiting several states to meet with Government, business and community service provider represntatives in support of the growing interest in foyers across Auustralia.

FOYER NEWS 18.04.08

An event to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Perth Anglican Diocese was held on the 16th April 2008 that focussed on homelessness, and featured a presentation on Foyer as a response to addressing the needs of homeless young people.

The event was organised by Anglicare WA, and held at the Perth College Auditorium, one of Perth’s Anglican Girls Colleges, and opened by Archbishop Roger Herft.

Speakers included Tony Nicholson from the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Chair of the Federal Government’s Homelessness Taskforce, David McKenzie discussing Homelessness Research, and Wendy Malycha, CEO of St Johns Youth Services in Adelaide, who gave the presentation on the Foyer model.

The audience consisted a number of CEOs and senior staff from various community service and homelessness organisations, Government departments such as the Department of Child Protection (responsible for SAAP), and the Department of Housing and Works.

The response to the Foyer presentation was overwhelmingly positive
